The Beggar’s Syndrome

The beggar’s syndrome is a widespread emotional problem in the world. The sufferers of this complication are always craving for attention, yearning for support and longing for company. One of the most common symptoms of this behavior is found in a simple interaction when you ask the person how is he doing?. The immediate response is “I’m tired”, “I’m exhausted”, “I feel drained” “I’m worried” “I’m exhausted” and so on and so forth in an endless sea of lamenting expressions. Then, after he’s expressed how tiresome his life is, he goes on and on telling stories that corroborate his apparently sorrowful existence. However, if you objectively analyze his descriptions, it is inevitable to conclude that he has a life which is tremendously similar to all other human beings, but what he doesn’t tell you, is that he simply wants attention, some comforting words or just some gentle drops of emotional empathy. In this world of inner abundance it is always a good practice to check if, every now and then, you are not being manifesting the beggar’s syndrome for you can only get out of an emotional craving when you acknowledge its existence in your life.
