On Psychological Inheritance

Frequently, psychological inheritance, like any other worldly inheritance, might be an inspiring and liberating factor, but, more often than not, it may be a tremendous obstacle especially if one wants to bring about any humane, sustainable, and spiritual change in the way society, families and individuals have been living.

Why is it so difficult?

Because predominantly all the prevailing beliefs of any society are shared with the child at an early age when they don’t have any other knowledge and, therefore, are incapable of seeing the limitations or fallacies being taught.

Consequently, the psychological inheritance becomes a one-way imposition that, later in life, demands huge amounts of inquiry, analysis, and objectivity for any person to realize his indoctrinated cognitive condition.

Meanwhile, the main inheritance that people obtain during their childhood is an almost blind capacity for obeying, for conforming, and for following the established taboos, manners, and doctrines.

This process happens so subtly and so constantly that, even unintentionally, life becomes a miserable, narrow-minded, and confusing landscape because most of the hereditary teachings contradict the free, the curious, and the adventurous nature of human beings.

Therefore, similar to any other inheritance, the psychological one comes with its attached burdens that, instead of helping the growth and development of its individuals, oftentimes hinders or inhibits their evolution.

So, have you checked your psychological inheritance lately?

Is it a cause of distress, anxiety, and demotivation?

Or is it a source of inspiration and progress?

Regardless of your answer, always remember that you are free to accept the inheritance, to reject it, or to completely transform the way you see and the way you live your life so that, hopefully, you will be able to leave a meaningful inheritance connected to your brief time on this magnificent planet.
