It is just a thought… Is it?
It is like that
It starts just like a spark
A fleeting thought
A lightning bolt passing through your mind.
Then, it keeps coming back every now and then
Eventually, it returns more often
And more often
And more regularly.
After that, it increases its intensity
Now that it is frequent
The fire burns higher and higher
Up to a point that it starts driving you crazy
You can’t stop it anymore
Nor can you control it.
You just want it to go away
You invent all sorts of distractions
To get rid of it
But it still there
Lurching
Sly
Furtive
Clandestine.
At this time, you are hooked
You’ve got to follow the thought
Or it will eat you up.
It will drive you insane
Unless you do exactly what it wants.
You see! That little spark
That little flicker that you allowed into your thoughts
Have now become the captain of your life
That either you obey it
Or it will torment you, severely.
So, be careful
Be watchful
Be vigilant
Because it always starts as inoffensively
As simple
And as fugacious as a fleeting shooting star.
