Enchained Souls

Those were moments of lovely nights

Those were sceneries of unforgettable sights

Those were whisper of enchanting heights

Those were moments of seducing rites

Ahh! Those simply were… quite right

But…

Those were also mornings filled with disappointments

Those were lunches full of distasteful laments

Those were afternoons abundant in painful torments

Those were days to be left behind, emotional ailments

Ugh! Those simply were… just indecent

Perhaps, life would be easier if you didn’t return

Maybe it would be simpler if you forgot me

Perhaps, if we didn’t confuse love with rejection

Or kindness with insults

Maybe if we hadn’t misplaced our interpretations

We wouldn’t have hurt each other so much

But such was life, and the way we were

So, we turned affections into punishments

And desires into outbursts of contempt

And wishes into misplaced judgments

Those were our times, and that was our predicament

Your luck was my luck, and its absence was all ours

And the chains of our souls could never say good-bye

So, we consoled each other after our fights

And opened our hearts, and bled and cared for one another

Until there were no more energies, no more lights

Only exhausted bodies… Entangled forevermore.
